Bare Minerals Bare Pro Foundation Review

Bare minerals bare pro foundation

It’s been quite a while since I did a foundation review, I sort of went off makeup for a while and literally didn’t buy anything new for months. But, when you go for so long without buying new products, you tend to run out of everything, AT THE SAME TIME! That must be the most annoying thing ever… buying one foundation can be alright but, when you have to buy foundation, concealer, setting spray, mascara, eyeliner and some new skin care, it can take a toll on your bank account!

I seem to be getting off topic here, let’s get back to the review! From the picture above you can probably tell what foundation I have recently brought, if not, let me tell you… I got the Bare Minerals Bare Pro Liquid Foundation in Fair 01. I want to point out this is the liquid foundation, as they also do a powder Bare Pro Foundation (which I have not yet tried).

Here’s some info on the foundation;

Full coverage around the clock, while continuously working to improve skins texture over time. Breathable matte finish, true colour match and perfectly calibrated shades to suit all skin tones. Provides 24 hours wear thats heat, humidity, water, sweat and transfer resistant, with SPF 20 sun protection without clogging pores or feeling heavy. This foundation will leave your skin looking flawless yet natural.  – Look Fantastic

This is everything that this foundation claims to do and it costs £23.20 on Feel Unique right now but, normally its around £29.  There are 30 shades to choose from, which isn’t a bad choice at all. I do appreciate a good range of shades, even though I am always the lightest shade in everything. And I did get mine in 01 Fair, which is the lightest shade… who could have guessed?

So, let’s have a chat about the packaging. It is very simple, there are no frills or excitement when it comes to the Bare Pro foundation and that’s the way I like it. It has a very simple black lid, a nice glass bottle which has a very controllable pump (This will save you so much product). The glass is clear, so you can see your shade and it also says the shade name on the bottom. That is basically everything when it comes to this foundation, a no thrills foundation bottle.

However, let’s see if I actually like the foundation.

(I just want to say one thing before I get into the actual review, I didn’t actually know this foundation was matter, when I saw Inthefrow use it, it looked quite dewy so I assumed it was for dry skin. This did play a role in my first impressions of the foundation.)

First Impressions

I did actually like the foundation when I first put it on, I was shock too… I did all of my normal skincare routine, exfoliate, serum, moisturiser and primer. Then I applied the foundation with my real techniques beauty sponge, this did however not make the foundation as full coverage as it should be, therefore I did use more product than I should have. I’m personally not too bothered about this, because I will only use a beauty sponge to apply my foundation. It is a more matte finish than I’m used to, and it did separated underneath my eyes and around my nose throughout the day (I wasn’t too happy about this) and also it cling onto the more dry areas on my face, mainly under my eyes.

So, I was safe to assume that this foundation didn’t like my under-eye area. This didn’t put me off the foundation though, as when I put my bronzer and highlighter on, OMG I LOVED IT! Everything went on so perfectly, and flawless, I honestly loved the way it looked on everywhere else on my face apart from my under eyes. It did actually last a while on my face, and it looked exactly the same as it did when I first put it on, apart from my eye area.

Seconded Time I used It

All I have to say is, I hated it! I was so disappointed when I put it for the second time, it looked horrendous. But, I feel like I didn’t prep my skin enough beforehand. You do need quite oily skin to get away with this foundation, and sadly for me I’m on the dry side. However, everywhere were I’m not dry looked amazing again, I was in quite a dilemma.

Overall Opinion

I am still going to use this foundation because, I do actually like it. However, I think I will save it for my good skin days and stay very clear on my very dry days. I do have to say that my face did look flawless, and maybe I will try another foundation under my eyes and use this one on the rest of my face. PS – if you have dry skin like me, use a lot of dewy setting spray, I use the NYX dewy mist, it does really help.

Well, this was my unbelievably long review of the Bare Minerals Bare Pro Liquid Foundation, I hope this post has helped you if you wanted to purchase this foundation. I would love to hear your thoughts on it in the comments.

Until Next Time x

    Great review! Sounds like a great one for those with oily skin, but perhaps not for dry skinned gals like us. Thank you for sharing!
