How I’m Taking Care of ME This Year!

Taking care of yourself should be up there with your main priorities, as it’s unbelievable important for your physical and most importantly your mental wellbeing. I’ve had days in the past were I haven’t even thought about myself at all, and honestly I have never felt so down! It’s like you’re so worried about the days ahead, or you’re trying to take care of everything else around you, that you completely forget about the most important thing, yourself!

That’s why in 2018 I am taking charge of my self-care and I’m putting it at the top of my list of priorities! I’m going to (try) give myself the self-love that my body and mind needs. This doesn’t mean I’m going to be booking spa weekends, and jetting off to yoga retreats every week (I wish), it just means I’m taking a little break once in a while to make sure I am alright, and I really think you should too!

How to take care of yourself this year

Reading More!

God I love reading, getting lost in a really good book is one of my favourite things to do! But, I never get the chance to anymore, I’m either doing uni work, in actual work, on social media, or doing stuff for my blog! Some of these shouldn’t be at the top of my list for “things to do” *cough* *cough* social media *cough*. A couple of years a go I got bought a kindle and I absolutely love it, I’m not much of a physical book person (yes, I’m one of THOSE people, please try to not judge me to harshly) and my kindle was my life saver in the summer months, I would read a whole book in one sitting and wouldn’t regret a thing!

Bye, Social Media…

Obviously I’m not giving up social media altogether, I couldn’t live without the cute puppy videos that I watch far too often. However, I will be cutting down a lot. I honestly don’t think its worth it, especially if you’re getting stressed about how many followers you have, or whether your last tweet got enough likes. These things shouldn’t take over your life, and putting them on the back-burner could really do you some good!

Treating Myself

Whether it be with a pair of new shoes, new makeup or even a sweet treat I am going to allow myself to splurge once in a while. I make my own money, so shouldn’t I have the right to spend it anyway I want to? This doesn’t mean I’m going to go crazy and spend it on something not worth my time but, if I see a nice top in NewLook, I’m going to let myself buy it and enjoy it!

Organisation is Key!

This sounds like a weird one to add to my “self-care” post but, hear me out. I have so many things going on in my head, what blog post needs to go out next? When I am taking photos next? When’s my next uni work in for? who’s emailed me and who I have replied too? That’s why I’m starting to organise my head with a bullet journal, and this should hopefully become a place where my thoughts will actually make sense.

How are you going to be taking care of yourself this year?

Until Next Time x

Lovely post, fresh air always makes me feel better so a little walk outside each day helps I think!

  • I’m definitely going to spend more time this year for myself, just little things like you’ve mentioned here. I so need to cut down my time spent on social media for sure and I think organising my time more will help me relax and feel more in control of things! Fingers crossed for a good 2018. X

self-care is so important, it’s good to take a step back every now and then to see how you’re doing. If only we could all afford spa weekends to relax that extra bit aha x

Self-care is so important, especially these days with so much around us that makes us doubt ourselves or think that we are not good enough (see social media!). It’s also really good to take time out for yourself, which is also something I’m going to try to do this year! Great post 🙂 I wish I could have spa weekends every weekend.

I’m definitely going to be focusing more on self care this year, it’s such an important thing. And one of my aims is to be more organised, and I’ve got a bullet journal for this year too! It’s been so helpful!

Love this post, I had the same kind of resolution this year to look after myself and practice self care more often, I’m exactly the same about reading more this year it’s so great to have that time away from a screen X

As I’ve gotten older I’ve learnt that “treating myself” it totally okay. I would always feel guilty spending money on something I wanted rather than spending it on something I needed. But, it’s totally okay to have what your heart desires.

    Great post!

YAS to reading! I’ve started this year with reading every night before going to bed and it’s helped me so much already. It’s perfect just to unwind instead of scrolling through Instagram or looking at cute puppy videos (although cute puppy videos can do nothing wrong. Ever). And yeah… organisation…. that’s still a biggie for me… I already look forward to the day I’m not running around in circles because everything is nice and neat and organised… oh, the future does look bright. 😉 Thank you for sharing!

Love this post! It’s so important to look after yourself. I’m going to be reading more this year as it’s something I don’t do often enough. I love that you are going to be treating yourself it allows you to appreciate your hard work, enjoy it!

I agree with all of this, especially social media, I wish it wasn’t so important for the blog otherwise I’d quite happily take a month (or two) sabbatical from it. Allowing yourself to treat yourself is so important, or at least that’s what I’m going with when last night’s feel unique order arrives xx

  • I am reading more. Switching off all devices at least one hour before bed! 🙂 xx corinne

  • I loved this! <3 I try not to get too caught up on social media lol like I've been trying to start my insta forever and a day now and I'm not even mad that I've been failing miserably lol. I def believe in treating yourself, we work too hard not to enjoy a few extra nice things. & trust that organization is on my list too, I always have so much doing and I'm always compartmentalizing things in my head.

  • I definitely need to stop treating myself as I do it far too often :’) Cutting down on social media is a must though, it can be so easy to get addicted!
