Taking care of yourself should be up there with your main priorities, as it’s unbelievable important for your physical and most importantly your mental wellbeing. I’ve had days in the past were I haven’t even thought about myself at all, and honestly I have never felt so down! It’s like you’re so worried about the days ahead, or you’re trying to take care of everything else around you, that you completely forget about the most important thing, yourself!
That’s why in 2018 I am taking charge of my self-care and I’m putting it at the top of my list of priorities! I’m going to (try) give myself the self-love that my body and mind needs. This doesn’t mean I’m going to be booking spa weekends, and jetting off to yoga retreats every week (I wish), it just means I’m taking a little break once in a while to make sure I am alright, and I really think you should too!
God I love reading, getting lost in a really good book is one of my favourite things to do! But, I never get the chance to anymore, I’m either doing uni work, in actual work, on social media, or doing stuff for my blog! Some of these shouldn’t be at the top of my list for “things to do” *cough* *cough* social media *cough*. A couple of years a go I got bought a kindle and I absolutely love it, I’m not much of a physical book person (yes, I’m one of THOSE people, please try to not judge me to harshly) and my kindle was my life saver in the summer months, I would read a whole book in one sitting and wouldn’t regret a thing!
Bye, Social Media…
Obviously I’m not giving up social media altogether, I couldn’t live without the cute puppy videos that I watch far too often. However, I will be cutting down a lot. I honestly don’t think its worth it, especially if you’re getting stressed about how many followers you have, or whether your last tweet got enough likes. These things shouldn’t take over your life, and putting them on the back-burner could really do you some good!
Whether it be with a pair of new shoes, new makeup or even a sweet treat I am going to allow myself to splurge once in a while. I make my own money, so shouldn’t I have the right to spend it anyway I want to? This doesn’t mean I’m going to go crazy and spend it on something not worth my time but, if I see a nice top in NewLook, I’m going to let myself buy it and enjoy it!
Organisation is Key!
This sounds like a weird one to add to my “self-care” post but, hear me out. I have so many things going on in my head, what blog post needs to go out next? When I am taking photos next? When’s my next uni work in for? who’s emailed me and who I have replied too? That’s why I’m starting to organise my head with a bullet journal, and this should hopefully become a place where my thoughts will actually make sense.
How are you going to be taking care of yourself this year?
Until Next Time x
